A 3 days workshop on Result Based Management was organised for 23 senior staff members from 15 organisations of Rajasthan and Gujarat.
A one day workshop was organized with the Rajasthan Livelihood Mission in Jodhpur with the aim of developing a collective understanding on the present status of livelihoods of dalits and to develop an action plan on the same which was attended by 28 participants, including 16 community leaders and 12 development workers from 9 organizations. PUCL, Rajasthan was supported to facilitate a study on status of mid day meal scheme in Balotra block of Western Rajasthan and also for the campaign against the proposed Police Act 2007 for Rajasthan.
Several organizations along with leaders from the community visited to understand the on-going activities of the dalit adhikar abhiyan: Behavioural Science Centre, Ahmedabad; students of Social Work from Gadhara, Gujarat;
Members of the Disaster Preparedness Response Group, Gujarat and staff members of Oxfam GB from all over the globe to gain insight about the activities on DRR.
2. Mainstreaming Gender and Disability
A gender sensitisation workshop was organised for 50 teachers and principals of primary schools, from 5 panchayats of Dholka taluka (Ahmedabad). The aim was to initiate a process of change in the attitude and behaviour of the school authorities and creating an enabling environment for promoting girl child education.
The international women’s day celebrations were celebrated in various locations by UNNATI and its partners and a detailed report is given inside.
A 3 day workshop was organised for the team members of UNNATI to orient them on the issues of gender and disability. The participants examined their beliefs, perceptions and responses to these critical issues. The space provided enabled the participants to think, share and learn about the different perspectives and how these can be applied in the organisational context. A session on the history of women’s movement was conducted to share how women and men have been involved in addressing gender issues over different periods in time. Histories of such women who do not find mention in mainstream history were highlighted to share their invaluable contribution to the women’s movement.
The sessions on disability were conducted to orient the participants on what disability means: the specific and general needs of people with disabilities, why disability needs to be viewed as a development issue, what are the social implications of disability for persons with disabilities and society, and how disability can be integrated by the team members in whatever roles they are performing in the organisation. With the help of specific situations, participants explored their responses and the impact that these would have on a person with disability.
3. Livelihood Promotion
During the quarter, for the women embroiders group in Kutch, efforts were made to explore the market to sell the finished products. The inventory management system was further upgraded.
